This is a horrible economic market to be pursuing a starting job in MARKETING and SALES bec economy has slowed down so much that no one is buying and even the BEST SALES PEOPLE are having a rough time unless the great product is in short like say NINTENDO WII.

Of course, if you have a GIFT OF GAB and GREAT PERSONALITY then you might have a chance if you like RISKS meaning taking a job based on commission rather than guaranteed salary...

Whoever your mentor or career advisor was in the past why you paid $$ to get an MBA with concentration in Marketing sold you an empty bag of goods bec even the Local Governments are having a tough time meeting budget & payroll & schools due to slow down in homes sales and incoming tax revenue.

Sorry I can't help much but I will tell you that YOUR DETERMINATION & PERSEVERANCE goes along way and Don't Give Up Trying but at the same time DEVELOP PLAN B CONTINGENCY PLAN and attempt your best to REDUCE YOUR LIVING EXPENSES alot.

For now perhaps pursue TEMPORARY JOB AGENCIES as some work is better than nothing and Best of Luck!

The best way to network would have been through internships. Companies usually pay close attention to the interns, for employ ability.

Start send and posting your resume NOW. If you wait you'll be competing with every graduate across the US.

Do a search on some of the big job sites(Monster etc). You should be able to start putting a pretty good map of what cities are hot and target those.

The market is just bad. I am a marketing major myself and marketing jobs are difficult to find right now.

The reason is, when the economy goes down, marketing jobs are the first to go. Of course when the economy improves they are the first to come back.

I would suggest simply trying to find ANY job that pays the bills. Volunteer to do advertising for non-profits. That way you can get some experience and when the economy improves you will ahve a sronger resume for the new jobs

You can locate the official websites for each country online and look up immigration information there. I've attached a section on Ireland visa requirements.

As for jobs, I think Australia's economy is doing better than Irelands, but you might find it hard to get a job in advertising , not being from there and not knowing the market.

No, it is not easy to get into the industry. But if you want to major in some aspect of advertising because you want to be an account manager or in the creative department, I would suggest that you make sure that you have really good internships with ad agencies prior to graduating college. This will help you when trying to find a job post graduation, it will also narrow down where you would want to be within the agency setting. Having this experience will be helpful since you will know what you want to do definitively, you will have contacts with an agency (they might hire you after graduation if you do a really good job), and you gain experience (which is really important to agencies). So basically to answer your question, no it is not easy to get a job, but if you have good experience, work hard and are good at what you do- be it creative or PR, or media or account management, it will be easier for you but not overall easy. Good Luck!
